Laura Summy
ABOUT
Laura is the Coding Education Specialist at Medic Management Group. In this role, she serves as the expert and go-to person for all coding processes, while also directing and coordinating the overall functions of the coding department.
Laura has done chart auditing for the coding department since 2017 and provides individual physician reports and education to multiple clients of different specialties based on documentation requirements. As a leader in the field and resource to Medic Management’s clients, Laura also prepares presentations, educational materials, and supplemental articles on current and upcoming documentation guidelines, procedures, changes, and diagnosis standards.
Laura has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry beginning as an insurance specialist and employee trainer in 2000. She moved to an ER physician billing company and received her Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential in 2010 and became solely responsible for all audits, including Medicare CERT, RAC and UPIC, as well as worker’s compensation and commercial pre-pay and post-pay audits.
Laura earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kent State University and is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders.
